The Portland Police Bureau has issued a Crime Stoppers alert in the hit and run death of cyclist James Neal Wagner. Wagner was struck and killed just south of NE 122nd and NE Fremont on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at approximately 2:15 a.m. The driver left the scene of the accident without stopping, proceeded north on NE 122nd, and according to witnesses turned left somewhere north of NE Fremont. Police are looking for a four-door 1988-1992 Toyota Corolla with a broken headlight on the passenger side. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Mike Luther was hit in a parking lot near NE 122nd and NE Glisan on Friday, August 28, 2009. Wayne Conrad Thompson was arrested for allegedly backing into him at high speed (reportedly around 40 MPH). Luther was hospitalized with serious injuries; his family released a statement a few days ago stating that Luther is a safe biking advocate, and that they unsure whether his medical expenses will be covered by insurance, so they are seeking financial help.
