Another Auto vs. Bicycle Incident?! (UPDATED 8/31)

Only a day after cyclist James Neal Wagner was killed in a hit and run incident, yet another cyclist was hit by a car near NE 122nd and Glisan. Portland Police responded to the incident around 2:00 p.m. Friday; the cyclist had serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Today, Portland Police Sergeant Michael Marshman issued a press release stating that "detectives did arrest and charge Wayne Conrad Thompson...with one count of assault in the first degree," which means the incident is being considered an intentional act rather than an accident.

The victim is still in serious condition; his name has not been released.

UPDATE: The Oregonian has the rest of the story; the suspect allegedly backed into the cyclist at about 40 mph.
